For previous users of CC+ (version 1.x) only.
The conversion utility is used to convert files created with CC+ 1.x.
Since an 'Automatic Balance Calculation' (Auto Bal Calc) feature has
been added to the latest version, your balances might change if you
did not update every balance for every month in which you had entered
transactions. The Auto. Bal. Calc. requires that every month, starting
with the first transaction entered, have a balance. In order to avoid
errors, the conversion utility will get the first balance that was entered
for every credit card and designate that as the Starting Balance for the
respective credit cards. From there on, the rest of the balances that exist
in the file are ignored and will be calculated from the existing transactions.
Anyway, if there are any discrepancies with the ending balance after the
conversion, just use the 'Adjust' utility in the 'Monthly Statement' window
and enter the updated balance.
Another point I should mention is that since CC+ 2.x is using another method
of entering transaction details (using a comment field, as well as a method-item
and method-text field), in order to extract all details entered in CC+ V1.x, the
method item is set to 'none' and whatever method used in CC+ V1.x is transferred
to the method-text field. This might sound confusing for now, but after you see your
converted file in CC+ V2.x, you will see what I'm talking about. An example of
this is if you made check payments, the method-text field will have "check #xxx"
and not just the number and the method-item will be set to 'none' and not to 'check'.
The consequences of this is that when you search for transactions using the search
utility, you should set the 'Method' field to 'none' or don't select it at all. Unless,
of course, you have made the necessary changes to the individual transactions.
